Jasmine Paolini required two tiebreaks and multiple set points to beat Fernandez in a thrilling two-set encounter which lasted more than two and half hours. She has posted a 26-10 record in the ongoing season and won a title in the Rome Masters. She reached the semifinals in Miami and Stuttgart. On her debut at Bad Homburg, she is now one win away to reach the quarterfinals. Meanwhile, she hasn’t played much on grass this year so it will be a big test for the Italian ace. Paolini reached the finals of the Wimbledon last year so she knows how to tackle on this surface.

Beatriz Haddad Maia was one-set down but surprised eighth-seed Svitolina in the second round. The Brazilian ace saved four match points to reach the fourth career WTA quarterfinal on grass. Beatriz has won her previous three grass-court quarterfinals but task would be more difficult as she will face the world No. 4. Before entering this event, she didn’t won two consecutive games in 11 of last 12 events and also came through a nine-match losing streak. Maia has three grass-court victories this year against Kvitova, Krueger, and Svitolina.

Haddad Maia showed a great character in her previous game and the experience on grass-court will matter. Paolini brings balance and mental strength which could be pivotal for her. It’s just a second grass-court game of the season and in last game, she struggled a lot. Her court IQ would help to counter the Brazilian ace. If Paolini takes the grip from the opening set, she can survive.
Prediction: Paolini to win in straight sets.
Paolini enters as the 13/10 favorite, reflecting her recent form and title runs. Haddad Maia, at 10/11, offers value for bettors banking on a head-to-head comeback. Still, the odds back the Italian ace to prevail.
