Jannik Sinner vs. Flavio Cobolli Preview, Prediction, and Betting Odds for ATP Vienna Open 2025 Round of 16

All-Italian clash: Sinner faces Cobolli in Vienna second-round clash

Top seed Jannik Sinner will face unseeded Flavio Cobolli in the second round of the Vienna Open 2025. Cobolli advanced with straight sets win over Tomas Machac, while Sinner dispatched Daniel Altmaier in similarly convincing fashion. The Italian has been a dominant presence this season, capturing titles in Melbourne, Wimbledon, and Beijing, defeating top stars including Alexander Zverev, Carlos Alcaraz, and Learner Tien.

He also reached finals in Rome, Roland Garros, Cincinnati, and the US Open, all falling to Alcaraz, cementing their rivalry as one of 2025’s defining narratives. However, he also had a few setbacks with a three-month doping suspension and retirements in Shanghai and Cincinnati due to cramping and illness. Sinner has been clinical with his stats, being 310 aces, 79% first-serve points won and a 45% break-point conversion from 444 opportunities.

Cobolli, meanwhile, has enjoyed a breakthrough year highlighted by two ATP titles. He upset Sebastian Baez in Bucharest and Andrey Rublev in Hamburg, rising to a career-high No. 17 in July before settling at No. 22. His season also includes quarterfinal appearances in Phoenix, Turin, Halle, and Almaty, with a standout Wimbledon run. Cobolli has struggled for consistency elsewhere and retired in the third round of the US Open due to a right arm issue. But his stats remain solid with 237 aces, 68% first-serve points and 37% break-point conversion from 422 opportunities.

But a fateful writing job introduced me to the world of sports, and what began as a gig quickly became a passion. I understood those voices aren’t noise; they’re emotions of true sports fans, and now I am one of them, writing with the same energy I once questioned.
