Jalen Brunson was named the NBA Clutch Player of the Year for 2024-25 season.

Star guard Jalen Brunson was drafted in the NBA by the Dallas Mavericks in 2018 and was a part of the franchise till 2022. Despite having spent four seasons with the team, he rose to prominence when he became a part of the New York Knicks in 2022 and since then, he has been a steady name in the team’s offense. Brunson signed a $104 million contract with the New York-based team three years ago, and has made an undeniable influence on the franchise. 

Named as the NBA Clutch Player of the Year 2025, Brunson became an integral piece for the franchise that they had been missing all through the years. With him, the Knicks became a disciplined, more efficient, and a powerful team. After missing playoffs in 2022, New York secured a playoff berth for three consecutive seasons and at least made it to the conference semifinals. 

Brunson’s performance with the side has been more or less consistent. After finishing his debut season in New York at an average of 24.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 6.2 assists, he went on to record an average 28.7 points in the previous season. In the current season, the 28-year-old is maintaining an average of 26.0 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 7.3 assists. 

He has a Player Efficiency Rate of 21.6 for the past season, and he finished on the tenth spot in the list of highest scorers. Not only this, but he also sits second on the list of top playoff 2025 scorers with an average of 31.1 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 7.7 assists across seven games.

Jalen Brunson has played a total of seven seasons in the NBA so far. Out of those seasons, he has been to the playoffs five times, where he has played a total of ten series (including one in progress). Brunson has played 56 playoff games throughout his career. 

The first time he made it to the postseason was in 2021, when he was a part of the Dallas Mavericks. The Mavs clashed against the LA Clippers in their first-round series and were knocked out of the championship contention with a 4-3 loss. In that series, Brunson averaged 8.0 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game across seven contests.

As mentioned, Brunson has made it to the playoffs five times in his seven-season long NBA career. Does Jalen Brunson Have an NBA Finals Appearance?

The New York Knicks have a total of eight NBA Finals appearances. However, the last of it came in 1999. On the other hand, the Dallas Mavericks also failed to make it to the NBA Finals with Brunson in the lineup. It means that the New Brunswick-born is yet to make it to the NBA Finals in his career.
