The Indiana Pacers became a part of the NBA in 1976 after the American Basketball Association’s (ABA) merger. Founded in 1967, the Pacers have won nine division titles. However, they are one of the ten active teams that have not won an NBA Championship alongside the Brooklyn Nets, Charlotte Hornets, Los Angeles Clippers, etc. 

Their last and the only NBA Finals appearance came in 2000, where they lost 2-4 to the Los Angeles Lakers. In the current edition, the Pacers earned a direct berth to the playoffs after they recorded 50 wins and 32 losses. Seeded fourth in the East, the Pacers faced the Milwaukee Bucks in the first-round series. They secured an easy 4-1 win over their rivals to advance to the conference semifinals, where table-toppers Cleveland Cavaliers were awaiting them.

The Pacers pulled off an upset and took down the Cavs 4-1 to become the first team to qualify for 2025 Conference Finals.

The Indiana Pacers have played a total of 49 seasons in the NBA and have made it to the playoffs 29 times. As stated, the Pacers are one of the ten active NBA teams that haven’t won any title so far. They have made it to the finals only once. 

Overall, they have a record of 131-137 in the playoffs. In the last ten seasons, they made it to the playoffs seven times and won three playoff series.

Before the ongoing season, the Pacers made it to the playoffs in 2024, which was their first time in four years.

When Was Indiana Pacers’ Last Playoff Appearance? 

The last time the Pacers made it to the playoffs was in 2025 where they featured as the 4th seed in the East with a season record of 50-32. In the opening round, they were paired against the Milwaukee Bucks, whom they took down easily in a 4-1 win. In the Eastern Conference Semis, they booked a spot against the Cleveland Cavaliers, and began the series by pulling a 121-112 upset over the heavy favorites. The Pacers, who were heavy underdogs before the beginning of the series, pulled off an upset and defeated their rivals 4-1 to secure an Eastern Conference semifinals berth.

How Many Finals Have the Indiana Pacers Won? 

The Indiana Pacers remain trophy-less in their 49-year-long NBA history. They are of the active teams alongside the Denver Nuggets, the Sacramento Kings and the Toronto Raptors that have only one Finals appearance. 

They appeared in the Finals in 2000, where they lost to the Los Angeles Lakers 4-2. They qualified for the playoffs as the 1st seed in the East with a staggering 56-26 record.
