Indiana Pacers Make Major Announcement About Tyrese Haliburton’s Appearance in Next Season

The Indiana Pacers’ GM Kevin Pritchard made a heartbreaking announcement surrounding Tyrese Haliburton’s injury. Per Pritchard, the star point guard would miss the entire 2025-26 season after tearing his Achilles in the NBA Finals. The 25-year-old sustained the injury during the opening quarter of the NBA Finals Game 7 against the Oklahoma City Thunder last month. The injury blew the Pacers’ hopes of the first-ever NBA title as the Thunder took them down 103-91.

Sharing an update about his injury, Pritchard told the media that Haliburton’s surgery went well and he will be back better. However, he also said that Haliburton won’t play in the entire 2025-26 season. Pritchard told the media, “I have no doubt that he will be back better than ever. The surgery went well. It was a little higher, he gets a little bit more to that. He will not play next year, though. We would not jeopardize that now.”

He added, “Don’t get any hopes up that he will play, but again, we’ll have some guys and hopefully they’ll have some opportunities to grow, and when he gets back, that’ll be the cherry on top.”

With the injury, Haliburton joined the long list of players who tore Achilles this season. The list includes Boston Celtics’ Jayson Tatum, former Milwaukee Bucks’ star Damian Lillard, Dejounte Murray from the New Orleans Pelicans, along with James Wiseman and Dru Smith.

Tyrese Haliburton For Indiana Pacers in 2024-25 Season

Haliburton played a total of 73 games for the Indiana Pacers in the last season, while averaging 18.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 9.2 assists per game. He was shooting 47.3% from the field, 38.3% from the three-point range and 85.1% from the free-throw line.

In the playoffs, the Pacers clashed against the Milwaukee Bucks, Cleveland Cavaliers, New York Knicks and the OKC Thunder. Across 23 games, he dropped an average of 17.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 8.6 assists per game. The two-time NBA All-Star was shooting 46.3% overall, 34.3% from beyond the arc and 82.8% from the foul line.

Notably, Haliburton’s absence isn’t the only thing that deepens the Pacers’ pain. Recently, they also lost Myles Turner to the Bucks at the start of free agency. Turner signed a four-year contract with the Bucks worth $107 million.
