Indiana Fever vs Connecticut Sun Lineups, Sneak Peek

Indiana Fever: Clark marks her return in the most CC way

The Fever comes into this game after their most impressive 102-88 win over the defending champs, the New York Liberty. They ticked many boxes. Breaking a red-hot team’s nine-game winning streak, check. Find the rhythm on the offensive end, check. Utilizing Caitlin Clark’s energy to come up big in the clutch, check.

The Fever, who had lost 3 out of 5 without CC, were on fire throughout the affair. With CC, the Fever has been the only team to score 80+ points against the Liberty, now doing it twice this season.

Clark had a riveting 32-point, 8-rebound, and 7-assist performance, nailing seven threes in the process. Meanwhile, Kelsey Mitchell caught fire late in the game and had an impressive 22-point night.

The Fever can become one of the best teams in the league with a few tweaks. They need to ride on the Caitlin Clark effect and up their level.

Connecticut Sun: Unsurprisingly, a brutal season

The Sun comes into this game after a 12-point loss (66-78) against the Chicago Sky despite a 22-point outing by Marina Mabrey. While Mabrey, Tina Charles, and Jacy Sheldon combined for 53 points, the rest of the starters had just 13.

It has been the story of the Sun’s season, which is arguably the team with the least depth in the league. It was their second straight loss. The Sun has already suffered a 6-game losing streak before this. Six out of their eight losses have been by double digits (Five of them by 20+ points).

This was an expected terrain. The Sun are gunning for a high draft pick in the 2025 draft, and the pain may be worth it considering the deep talent pool we see during every draft these days.

Sun Expected Starting Lineup

PG: Jacy Sheldon | SG: Marina Mabrey  | SF: Bria Hartley | PF/C: TIna Charles | C: Olivia Nelson-Ododa

Key bench players: SG: Lindsay Allen, C: Karita Diaby, SG: Jaelyn Brown

Injuries/Updates: Nothing significant to report

Fever Expected Starting Lineup

PG: Caitlin Clark | SG: Lexie Hull | SG: Kelsey Mitchell | PF: Natasha Howard | C: Aliyah Boston

Key bench players: SG: Sophie Cunningham, SG/SF: Sydney Colson, PF: Damiris Dantas

Injuries/Updates: Nothing significant to report.

Indiana Fever vs Connecticut Sun Total Over/Under Prediction- WNBA Best Bets

The Fever put in 102 against the best defense in the league during the last game. The Sun is by no means a strong defensive team and a strong inside-outside team like the Fever is their absolute nightmare.

On the other hand, the Sun has the least offensive depth, and even scoring 80 seems like a significant achievement.

At any rate, I expect the Fever to score at least 90 while limiting the Sun to around 70-74 points. The total can be in the 170-180 range, largely due to Fever’s bloated count.

Total: Over 164.5 for -115 at BetMGM

Indiana Fever vs Connecticut Sun Player Props Predictions- WNBA Betting Picks

Caitlin Clark O 4.5 triples: CC is averaging 3.6 triples per game on a decent 36.7% clip. The streaky deep range shooter has made 4 or more threes in three of the five games. I believe she will nail 5-6 long-range bombs here.

Tina Charles O 16.5 points: The Sun Center is averaging 16.6 PPG, right behind the leading scorer, Marina Mabrey. She has scored 17 or more in three straight games, and I expect her to continue in a similar range.

Aliyah Boston O 8.5 rebounds: Boston is averaging 7.6 RPG, and her rebounding has been rather inconsistent. However, when she has played with CC, she has grabbed 10.8 RPG this season. I believe she will clean up 9 boards at least.

Main pick: Points: Caitlin Clark Over 4.5 three-pointers at BetMGM

Indiana Fever vs Connecticut Sun Spread Prediction

This is Fever’s game to lose. They are the overwhelming favorites and will be itching to string two wins in a row after the return of CC. The Sun’s confidence has drained after so many losses, but Mabrey is up for a big game now and then, which can bring a rare win for her team.

At any rate, I back the Fever to win it by at least 14 points.
