Indiana Fever President Kelly Krauskopf Deletes Social Media Amid Backlash For Comments on Caitlin Clark

Krauskopf made comments on Indiana Fever star, sharing her long-term vision for the franchise.

Indiana Fever President Kelly Krauskopf seemingly deleted her X account after receiving heavy criticism from Caitlin Clark’s fans. Recently, Krauskopf made comments on Indiana Fever star, sharing her long-term vision for the franchise. Krauskopf said that she wanted them to emerge as a team that could thrive beyond Caitlin Clark’s presence, and referred to the popularity of brands like Apple as the kind of identity she wants to build.

She said, “We want to sustain the growth and the interest level in the franchise. I mean, this is about the Indiana Fever. Yes, we have a foundational players in Caitlin Clark … and Aliyah Boston, and we’re going to add to that. But I want this team to be a leader in the country, and an enduring brand … like Apple or something. We have a real opportunity here.”

The comments didn’t make Caitlin Clark’s fans happy and they pointed out that the Fever are at .500. They opined that at this time, the franchise should focus on getting consistent wins rather than focusing on branding. Not only this, but a few thought that Fever President’s opinions are a disregard to Clark’s contribution to the franchise as well as the WNBA. Amid the backlash, Krauskopf seemingly deleted her X account.

Kelly Krauskopf’s Association With Indiana Fever

Kelly Krauskopf has been quite a popular name in basketball history. She has been associated with the Fever since 2000 and was promoted to the role of President in 2012. During her first stint with the franchise, she led the team to eight consecutive playoff appearances and 13 in total. Not only this, but under her leadership, the team won three conference titles and a WNBA championship in 2012.

Later, she became the first woman to be hired as an assistant general manager in the history of the NBA, when she signed with the Indiana Pacers in 2019. Krauskopf returned to the Fever in 2024, and since then made massive changes on and off the court with a hope of building a championship contending team around Caitlin Clark. She also brought in coach Stephanie White and GM Amber Cox.

Talking about the Fever, in their last fixture, they secured a 99-82 win over the Atlanta Dream, which pushed their tally to 10-10 in the ongoing WNBA season.
