Anthony Davis talked about playing at 4, believing he is always been at his best when playing as power forward.
Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis recently urged the team’s front office to add a center in order to strengthen their chances of making a serious title push this season. In an interview with ESPN’s Shams Charania, Davis said that he is most comfortable playing the power forward position.
“I think we need another Big,” Davis said. “I feel I’ve always been at my best when I was being a four.”
Davis reflected on the Lakers’ 2020 championship season, noting how the team was built around a strong frontcourt with centers like JaVale McGee and Dwight Howard. He believes that structure allowed him to thrive at the 4.
“”I think our 2019-20 team was perfect construction of a team. We had shooters, we had dogs defensively, we had scorers, we had everybody who knew their role”, the 31-year-old said.

The Lakers are currently sitting fifth in the Western Conference with a 24-18 record, but Davis feels that the team is just a few pieces away from being a true title contender.
“I think we are one or two pieces away. I really feel like we are,” he said.
After a solid 24-point performance in the Lakers’ blowout win over the defending champions Celtics, Davis was asked to elaborate on his preference for the power forward position.
“We’ve seen it with Jaxson. We’re a little bit more disruptive. Offensively, it just allows me to float around a little bit more.”
Davis went on to explain that he only started playing the center position in 2021. Before that, he had always been primarily a power forward, and he believes he’s simply more effective in that role.
