Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek have both punched their tickets to the quarterfinals of the US Open 2025, keeping their streak of reaching the last eight at every Grand Slam this season intact. With the milestone, Swiatek became the youngest player since Maria Sharapova in 2005 to make all four major quarterfinals in a single season. Sabalenka, meanwhile, extended her astonishing streak to 12 consecutive Grand Slam quarterfinals, highlighting her remarkable consistency at the top of women’s tennis.

Sabalenka’s Red-Hot Form, Swiatek’s Dominance

Swiatek’s surge has been nothing short of dominant. The Polish No. 2 seed brushed past Ekaterina Alexandrova 6-3, 6-1 in an hour, stretching her Grand Slam winning streak to 11 matches. Already a four-time Roland Garros champion and fresh off her Wimbledon triumph, she is chasing her seventh career major and her second US Open crown, after 2022. “I felt like in the beginning she played fast but later on I felt in my bubble, in the zone,” Swiatek said. “I’m happy with the quality and my serve.”

The victory carried historical weight as well. With 13 major quarterfinals now on her resume, Swiatek has drawn level with Elina Svitolina and the retired Petra Kvitova. Only a handful of active stars, being Aryna Sabalenka (14), Victoria Azarenka (18) and Venus Williams (39), sit higher on the list.

Sabalenka, too, put in a polished performance, dispatching Spain’s Cristina Bucsa 6-1, 6-4. The 27-year-old Belarusian, who will face Marketa Vondrousova next. “I’m super proud, I think that’s an incredible achievement,” Sabalenka reflected. “I think for me the key was balancing on- and off-the-court life. I think I’ve done a great job on balancing really hard work and also great recovery and some fun time outside of tennis court. I think that’s been the key.”

Aryna Sabalenka has reached the quarterfinals or better of every Grand Slam she’s played since U.S. Open 2022.

That’s 12 consecutive Grand Slam Quarterfinals.
