“If I Ever Return Home It’s for the Steelers” – Micah Parsons Comments From February Resurface Following His Trade Request

A dual threat of Parsons and Watt would be unstoppable in Pittsburgh!

The ongoing contract extension saga with Micah Parsons at the center took a drastic turn on Saturday when the Cowboys’ pass rusher officially submitted his request for a trade. A long, drawn out contract saga that started in the 2024 offseason still hasn’t made any progress, and now Parsons has had enough.

Requesting a trade to the Cowboys’ co-owner Stephen Jones, Parsons has set the ball rolling on what his next destination could be. As speculation continues to build on whether Dallas will actually entertain this recent development or not, talk of Parsons joining the Pittsburgh Steelers has become quite a thing.

Earlier in February, Parsons said that if he ever returned home, it was going to be for Pittsburgh. The 26-year-old who hails from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, would in that case be right at home as he also spent his college career playing for the Penn State Nittany Lions.

Parsons in Pittsburgh Too Good To Be True

The idea of Micah Parsons joining the Steelers would be jaw-dropping if things even go that far. First and foremost, Jerry Jones and the Cowboys would certainly want to keep hold of their best defensive player on the roster, and one who is on track to end his career among the pantheon of greats.

Secondly, the Steelers roster is packed with top-notch defenders, starting from the defensive line to the secondary. In order to accommodate Parsons in the lineup, the Steelers may have to do away with veteran 36-year-old Cam Heyward, which won’t be an easy thing to do. Heyward has given his body and soul to the organization, having spent all 14 of his seasons in the Steel City.

But, hypothetically, let’s say Parsons does join the Steelers, just imagine the type of terror that Parsons and T.J. Watt would unleash on the opposition, along with all the other high-quality defenders on the roster.

Jerry Jones is handling Micah Parsons’ contract negotiations like his friend betrayed him. There’s an imbalance of power that makes a friendship an impossibility.

Pittsburgh had one of its busiest offseasons in 2025 with plenty of roster changes on both sides of the ball. One would think they are now completely satisfied with the team they have, and it wouldn’t make sense for them to make aggressive moves for Parsons, especially considering the big contract he is seeking. All in all, a move to the Steelers doesn’t look too convincing at the moment, but Parsons sure won’t mind if the stars line up accordingly.
