Ja Morant came back from a 5-game absence due to shoulder injury on thursday, when the Grizzlies faced the Rockets in Houston. The bouncy point guard did all he could against the Texans, scoring a team-high 27 points on 9 of 22 shooting, grabbing 3 rebounds, dishing out 3 assists and recording 1 steal in 29 minutes action.
Although looking in great shape and prodicing good numbers, Morant couldn’t prevent Memphis from loosing (115-119) to H-Town, led by big man star Alperen Sengun (32 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists) and young gun Jalen Green (27 points).

After two years marred by suspensions and injuries, Ja Morant is still trying to regain his best form. The Murray State alumni is averaging 21,4 points, 4,3 rebounds and 7,7 assists per game, well below his standards from the 2022-2023 season (26,2 points, 5,9 rebounds and 8,1 assists).
The Grizzlies missed an opportunity to catch up with their opponents of the night for second place in the NBA‘s Western Conference. The Tennessee based franchise will travel to Minnesota to face the Timberwolves on Saturday. The Rockets will play the Hawks on sunday in Georgia.
