Houston Rockets Officially Sign Kevin Durant in Historic Seven-Team NBA Trade

The NBA just witnessed its first-ever seven-team trade!

The Houston Rockets have officially signed Kevin Durant as a part of the first ever seven-team trade in the NBA. After spending more than two seasons with the Phoenix Suns, Durant was traded to the Rockets in late June. While the deal was still unofficial, some details including the Rockets letting go of Dillon Brooks, Jalen Green, and the 10th overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, were known. However, it was only the tip of the iceberg, and there is so much to the deal.

According to the official announcement, the deal includes a total of seven teams, the first kind of a deal in the NBA. A total of six players, fifteen draft picks and some cash was moved in order to trade Durant from the Suns to the Houston Rockets. Apart from the Suns and the Rockets, the other teams who were included were the Atlanta Hawks, the Brooklyn Nets, the Golden State Warriors, the Minnesota Timberwolves, and the Los Angeles Lakers.

The deal was also confirmed by the two-time NBA champion, who shared a message on X. Reflecting on the tenure spent in Phoenix, Durant wrote, “My time in Phoenix has come to an end. All these stops along the journey have really impacted me in a positive way. Remember it’s a world behind the scenes, and those who make things work in that space, work tirelessly to make our lives easier as players.”

He added, “I appreciate all the quick interactions with everybody from support staff to teammates, distant cousins, it’s all a family that I’m grateful to be a part of, no matter what. I truly believe this NBA is a one big community. Much love to Arizona. Houston, Can’t Wait!“

Notably, Durant played a total of 145 games for the Suns and averaged 26.8 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game.
