Mirra Andreeva defeated Potapova 6-1, 6-3 to reach the third round in the US Open for the first time. The 18-year-old Russian ace is looking to make a big statement in New York after winning two Masters 1000 titles this year. Apart from the game, Andreeva had an interview on ‘Tennis Channel’ where she got a chance to discuss his idol and crush, Andy Murray.
Mirra Andreeva continues her love for the three-time Grand Slam champion, Andy Murray, who has retired from the professional tennis. The former British No. 1 is the idol for the 18-year-old and she has give a beautiful compliment to Murray on his post-retirement look. The Russian ace was talking with Ajla Tomljanovic on her show, Love Ajla which was telecasted on the Tennis Channel app.
Ajla Tomljanovic made a beautiful build up to the conversation and shared that she and Andreeva had same teenage crush in tennis. In first instance, the 18-year-old sensation couldn’t get her words and said, “Roger (Federer)”. Ajla corrected her and reminded Andreeva of her previous interview back in 2023. The Anchor said, “you called someone he’s more beautiful in person.” Andreeva guessed it immediately and said, “Andy.”
“I feel like he’s aging like fine wine. I look at him now… and I’m like ‘Oh yeah…’ He looks super super great.” Andreeva said while talking about her interview where she admire Murray for his look.

In 2023 Madrid Open, Andreeva expressed her feeling on Murray’s aesthetic appearance. When asked about her experience of of playing in Madrid, Andreeva said: “The atmosphere here is so special. When you are here and you take lunch with all these stars… you see Andy Murray and you see his face, he’s so beautiful in real life. He is so amazing. The atmosphere to be here amongst all these players is just incredible.”

Later, Murray went to X and wrote: “Imagine how good she’s going to be when she gets her eyes fixed [laughing emoji].”
Last year, Andy Murray admired Mirra Andreeva for her solid comeback in the Australian Open. The 16-year-old Andreeva was down 1-5 in the final set and went on to win the match in tiebreak. The 2012 US Open champion shared a beautiful tweet for the Russian ace and appreciated her mental strength.

“Honestly I didn’t really think that he would watch the match, then after he would tweet, he would comment something,” Andreeva said with a big smile after reading Murray’s tweet. “I will try to print it out somehow. I don’t know, I will put it in a frame. I will bring it everywhere with me. I will maybe put it on the wall so I can see it every day.
Mirra Andreeva secured her 13th major win of the career at the age of 18 and looked solid in the second round triumph at Grandstand. The Russian ace will take on Taylor Townsend in the third round and this match will be crucial for both players specially the American ace, who got involved with Ostapenko in heated argument after second-round win.
