Harry Kane Feels His “Aura” Has Grown Since Leaving Tottenham Hotspur for Bayern Munich

England got their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign off to a strong start with a dominant 2-0 win over Albania at Wembley Stadium, marking a successful debut for new manager Thomas Tuchel. The breakthrough came early in the 20th minute, courtesy of Myles Lewis-Skelly, who wrote his name into the history books by becoming England’s youngest-ever debutant goalscorer. The Arsenal youngster’s early strike settled the nerves and gave England control of the match.

England skipper Harry Kane then put the game to bed in the second half with a superb goal. It was Kane’s 70th goal in his 104th senior international appearance, further cementing his status as England’s all-time leading goal scorer.

Kane’s performance on the field has mirrored his heightened stature. In the ongoing season, Kane has been in exceptional form, scoring 32 goals and providing 11 assists in 37 appearances for Bayern Munich. His prolific scoring record has been instrumental in propelling Bayern to the top of the Bundesliga and into the Champions League quarter-finals.

“Just being at a club like Bayern Munich has helped push me on even more, confidence-wise and responsibility-wise,” Kane told reporters before the World Cup qualifier against Albania.

“I feel like I’ve definitely got better, I’ve improved, and maybe the ‘aura’ of me as a player is a bit more respected than what it has been in the past, because you’re playing in big games, big nights.“

Harry Kane Eyes Ballon d’Or

Harry Kane commented that his transfer to Bayern has provided him with the platform to earn Ballon d’Or, the coveted prize awarded to the world’s best player each year. Kane further said his goal-scoring feats are not always appreciated but he still remains motivated as ever.

“That’s probably what I mean in terms of being respected more worldwide, on the bigger stage. For something like that (Ballon d’Or), you have to win enough team trophies to be considered in that and probably score 40-odd goals, but that is a possibility this season.”

“It’s like when [Cristiano] Ronaldo and [Lionel] Messi were throwing these crazy numbers out there and the next season they’d score 40 goals instead of 50. It was like they were having a bad season,” Kane said.

“People take it for granted and maybe a little bit with England as well. I’ve scored 69 goals and when you score against Albania or Latvia, or these teams, people just expect it so it’s not spoken about so much.“

“If I was 25 now and doing what I’m doing, the excitement around me would maybe be a little bit different to what it is now. That’s part of where we are with football … Maybe people just get a little bit bored of what you do, but I’m certainly not bored. I’m excited for these games and the games ahead.”

Harry Kane has previously shared his long-term ambition of scoring 100 goals for England, a milestone that would further build his legacy as one of the greatest strikers in international football. With 70 goals already to his name following his latest strike in the 2-0 win over Albania, the Three Lions skipper is well on track to reach the century mark.
