Manchester City laid down a resounding statement at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 as they thrashed Juventus 5-2 in Orlando to finish top of Group G. In searing heat, the Premier League giants produced a commanding performance, capped by Erling Haaland’s milestone 300th career goal at the top level.

City started sharply in the match as Jeremy Doku coolly slotted home Rayan Ait-Nouri’s disguised pass inside the opening 10 minutes. However, a costly error by goalkeeper Ederson gifted Juventus an immediate equalizer, with Teun Koopmeiners intercepting a loose ball and drilling it into the net.

The game tilted back in City’s favor with a moment of defensive madness from Juventus defender Pierre Kalulu. With no pressure around him, the French defender somehow turned Matheus Nunes’ cross into his own net, handing the English side the advantage.

City Turn On the Style in Second Half

City continued the onslaught in the second-half as Pep Guardiola introduced Haaland at half-time. The Norwegian striker wasted no time in getting in on the action. The former Dortmund striker bundled in Nunes’ pass with an awkward finish, a goal that nonetheless etched his name in history with his 300th senior career strike.

Phil Foden and Savinho added further goals for Pep Guardiola’s side. Foden swept in from close range before Savinho unleashed a thunderbolt from distance to make it five. Juventus managed a late consolation through Dusan Vlahovic, but by then the damage had been long done.

The match also marked a significant moment for City as midfielder Rodri returned to the starting XI for the first time since his knee injury against Arsenal in September. Rodri’s return will be a welcome boost for Guardiola heading into the knockout rounds. With three wins from three, City advanced to the Round of 16 in dominant fashion and will face Al Hilal next.
