The Golden State Warriors will face the Minnesota Timberwolves for Game 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals of the 2025 NBA Playoffs. The Warriors took the first game away from the Wolves, and they somehow were able to survive in Game 1. The Timberwolves, on the other hand, gave the Warriors a game away, something that shouldn’t have happened, especially since Steph Curry went down with an injury, and did not return again to play. So the question to be answered is, can I Warriors survive without Curry moving forward, let’s find out more.
The Golden State Warriors, ever since Draymond Green confidently predicted that they’ll win the championship, have been taking all the steps and are starting to head towards that decision. The Warriors have played great brand of basketball lately, as they knocked off the Houston Rockets in 7 games, in the first round of the 2025 playoffs. Buddy Hield has been on a heater lately, as he has found his rhythm lately, and surprising Draymond Green, has also been adding a lot to the scoring column, and stuffing the stat sheet. However, Stephen Curry is reported to miss at least a week of playoff basketball, which means that the Warriors could be in a world of trouble. But, since the Timberwolves have been rocky in terms of their offensive consistency, all season long, and the Warriors could hang on even without their best player on the court.’
The Timberwolves were riding high after knocking out LeBron James and Luka Doncic’s Lakers off the playoff picture, and were not ready for what the Warriors threw at them in Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals. Even after Curry left the game, the Timberwolves never took the lead and were simply outclassed by Jimmy Butler, Draymond Green, and Buddy Hield. Game 2 is a must-win game for the Wolves, and the reason why is because Curry is currently out and Minnesota needs to take full advantage of that situation. Reports state that Curry will not return, most likely, until Game 6, and the Wolves need to use that advantage to end the series in 5 games. So can they do it? Anthony Edwards needs to play like he did against the Lakers, and he also needs to show up, as pointed by Timberwolves’ head coach Chris Finch.
Unfortunately of the Warriors, Stephen Curry is out for tonight’s game due to a left hamstring strain, and will miss at least a week before he steps back on the court. However, Gary Payton II, who is an excellent perimeter defender and can knock down open threes, will be available for tonight’s game as he has recovered from a left thumb splint.
The Timberwolves are only missing Rob Dillingham, for tonight’s game against the Warriors, due to right ankle sprain. The Wolves have all the firepower they need to tie the series tonight against the Warriors in Game 2.
