Golden State Valkyries vs Indiana Fever Lineups, Sneak Peek

Valkyries: The exit of three players came at the worst time possible

The Valkyries come into this game after a 71-80 loss against the Dallas Wings despite a 17-point performance by Monique Billings. They shot 40.7%, better than the Wings’ 39.2% shooting, but attempted 15 fewer shots. The Valkyries had 5 more turnovers and were outrebounded 28-39 by the Wings.

The loss broke a three-game winning streak, with victories over the strong Las Vegas Aces and Seattle Storm. However, the loss was understandable was without three crucial players, Tami Fegbenle, Cecilia Zandalasini, and Janelle Salaun (EuroBasket duties).

Overall, they could have built a four-game winning streak if not for these exits. But one admirable thing about the team is how they fight despite not having star-level players.

Indiana Fever: Caitlin Clark puts the life back in ‘em

The Fever will come into this game after an 18-point win (87-71) against the struggling Connecticut Sun. Caitlin Clark led the way with 20 points (4/6 three-pointers). Meanwhile, Natasha Howard and Kelsey Mitchell combined for 33 points.

The Fever were excellent from long range, nailing 11 out of 26 three-pointers. The 38-27 rebounding advantage also worked in the Fever’s favor. It was the second straight win for the Fever after the return of CC.

They are 4-2 when she is active. The Fever moves much better off-the-ball, engages actively on defense, and plays with a lot of enthusiasm when Clark is there. She is the very definition of an excellent Floor General.

Fever Expected Starting Lineup

PG: Caitlin Clark | SG: Lexie Hull | SG: Kelsey Mitchell | PF: Natasha Howard | C: Aliyah Boston

Key bench players: SF: Sophie Cunningham, PF: Damiris, Dantas,  SG/SF: Sydney Colson

Injuries/Updates: DeWanna Bonner has been AWAY due to “personal” reasons.

Valkyries Expected Starting Lineup

PG: Veronica Burton | SG: Carla Leite | SF: Stephenie Talbot | PF: Kayla Thornton | PF/C: Monique Billings

Key bench players: SG: Tiffany Hayes, PF: Laeticia Amihere, SF: Kate Martin.

Injuries/Updates: Tami Fegbenle, Cecilia Zandalasini, and Janelle Salaun will likely be OUT due to EuroBasket duties.

Golden State Valkyries vs Indiana Fever Total Over/Under Prediction- WNBA Best Bets

The short-handed nature of Valkyries means they are most likely to be stifled in the 70s. Meanwhile, the Fever has scored 88 or more in five of the last six games. The Valkyries have defended well, and don’t usually give up around 90, especially in front of their rousing home floor.

However, the Fever will definitely be in play to score at least 90, and the overall score can go past 170.

Total: Over 167.5 for at BetMGM

Golden State Valkyries vs Indiana Fever Player Props Predictions- WNBA Betting Picks

Caitlin Clark O 20.5 points: Clark is tallying 21.3 points per game on excellent 44.7% FG. She has scored 20 or more in four of the six games, indicating an improvement in her scoring compared to her rookie season. I believe she will put up 22-26 points here.

Kayla Thornton O 9.5 rebounds: Thornton is definitely a front-runner for the Most Improved Player award and the biggest factor behind the Valkyries’ unprecedented success. She has put up a career-high 7.4 rebounds a game, clearing double-digit boards in three straight games.

I see her hitting the 10-rebound mark again..

Lexie Hull O 1.5 three-pointers: Hull is shining this season and has made 1.5 three-pointers on 56.7%(!) shooting this season. I believe she will nail at least 2 triples here as she has in six of the last eight games.

Main pick: Rebounds: Caitlin Clark Over 20.5 points at BetMGM

Golden State Valkyries vs Indiana Fever Spread Prediction

The Fever is ascending since CC has returned. If Clark remains healthy, nothing is stopping them from being at least a 60% win team this season. The Valkyries have a strong fighting spirit, but they are way too short-handed.

Thus, the Fever will smell a chance to win big here. Thus, I’d expect them to clear the spread here.
