Stephen A. Smith went berserk after the New York Knicks completed another upset in the NBA Playoffs 2025. The NBA analyst who is an avid New York Knicks fan was in ecstasy during his team’s second road win in the series. Moreover, he gave himself credit for the performance as well.
Stephen A. Smith while reacting to the win said, “It’s not about what went wrong with the Boston Celtics. It’s about what’s gone right with the New York Knicks. Now, I gotta take credit. The power of prayer is real. What did I do, right here on this show, last week? I prayed. I prayed because, dammit, [Kendrick Perkins] was absolutely right. I was petrified.”
Adding to the hilarious conversation, he said, “I thought the Knicks were gonna get swept. I was saying, ‘Dammit, one game. At least give me two games.’ And I prayed! I said to myself, ‘You know what, I’m not perfect. None of us are infallible… I have tried to be a good human being. Can I at least get a couple of games?’ And sure enough, the good lord gave it to me.”

The New York Knicks’ fan base is reacting similarly, as most of them didn’t expect the Celtics to get swept in the first two games. Boston Celtics were favorite heading not only into the homes games but in the Eastern Countries Semi finals as well. With everyone counting, Knicks out, the visitors shocked all NBA fans.
Despite, the Knicks taking a vital 2-0 lead into their home stretch at the Madison Square Garden, the business is far from done. With the pedigree that the Boston Celtics have, one can never count them out. They maybe down and on the cusp of getting out, but a lapse from the Knicks could put them right back in.
Stephen A. Smith suggested that the New York Knicks must not feel comfort yet, as the job is not done. A 2-0 lead is healthy, but there have been instances when teams have overcome such a deficit as well. The Celtics had a usually bad set of games, especially in terms of shooting beyond the arc.
They needlessly kept going at it despite the strategy not working. On Friday, the Celtics are expected to come out with a strong plan and a better strategy. Which is why, the New York Knicks have to be at their best and alert. Knicks host Boston Celtics at the Madison Square Garden on the Friday night in the game 3.
