Freeman cannot stop scoring!
Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman has etched his name in baseball history with a record-breaking performance in the MLB 2024 World Series.
In Game 4 against the New York Yankees, Freeman launched a two-run home run in the first inning, becoming the first player ever to homer in the first four games of a World Series, surpassing the previous record held by Barry Bonds and Hank Bauer.
He is also the first player in MLB history to hit a home run in six consecutive World Series games.
Freeman’s historic home run came just days after his iconic walk-off grand slam in Game 1, which made him the first player ever to hit a walk-off grand slam in a World Series.
Despite missing significant time due to an ankle injury earlier in the postseason, Freeman has been a dominant force in the World Series. His performance has been crucial in the Dodgers’ 3-0 series lead over the Yankees.
Gleyber Torres, Anthony Volpe, and Austin Wells homered, and the reliever Luke Weaver stepped up for the Yankees in a must-win 11-4 win over the Dodgers in Game 4 on Tuesday.
Facing a clean sweep, the Yankees’ offense came alive as eight hitters combined to stun the Dodgers.
Alex Verdugo put the hosts 5-2 ahead with Alex Verdugo’s RBI grounder in the second and Volpe’s drive against Daniel Hudson in the third.
Austin Wells and Gleyber Torres then hit home runs for the Yankees, who just put the game to bed with a five-run eighth.
For the Dodgers, their full-proof bullpen strategy faltered in Game 4. After Hudson gave up four runs, including a crushing grand slam, manager Dave Roberts made a costly decision to keep Brent Honeywell on the mound. Honeywell’s struggles continued as he gave up a three-run homer and allowed two more runs in the eighth inning, putting the game firmly out of reach.
Game 5 of the World Series will take place on Wednesday at Yankees Stadium.
