‘Watching Arsenal Is Like Netflix’ – Former UCL Winner Took a Cheeky Dig at Arsenal and Now It Has Come True

Abhinav Goel

The cheeky jab at Arsenal has now resurfaced across social media as fans mocked yet another trophyless campaign for the Gunners.

Arsenal’s dreams of Champions League glory were shattered once again. It was meant to be the season Arsenal finally turned their potential into silverware. But once again, their hopes of glory ended in heartbreak. On Wednesday night, Arsenal’s Champions League dreams came crashing down as the Gunners were eliminated at the semi-final stage by Paris Saint-Germain, losing 2-1 in the second leg and 3-1 on aggregate.

The defeat also means Arsenal are now five seasons without a trophy. Their last silverware came in the form of the 2020 FA Cup, which was also under Arteta. For all the talk of “trusting the process”, the absence of titles in the last five years has become increasingly glaring. This latest setback followed another Premier League title challenge that ultimately fell short, with Arsenal finishing behind a dominant Liverpool side this season.

Watching Arsenal Is Like Watching Netflix: Evra

The Gunner’s elimination at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-finals has made them the subject of ridicule online, with fans and pundits leaving no chance to mock another trophyless campaign for Arsenal. One comment that particularly struck a chord was from former Champions League winner Patrice Evra. In fact, the former Manchester United defender had delivered a Netflix-themed joke that poked fun at Arsenal’s title pursuits four months ago.

Evra had quipped, “Watching Arsenal is like watching Netflix. You always have to wait for the next season!”

Evra’s cheeky dig came true once more as the Gunners were dumped out of the Champions League, ensuring another trophyless season for the Gunners. Evra’s jab at Arsenal has now resurfaced across social media as fans mocked yet another campaign ending in frustration for the North London club.

Patrice Evra enjoyed a trophy-laden eight-year spell at Manchester United, during which he lifted 14 major trophies, including five Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League. The former France international was a key figure in one of the club’s most dominant eras, known for his no-nonsense attitude both on and off the pitch.
