“Feels Like Death”- Jaylen Brown After Boston Celtics Suffer Playoff-Exiting Defeat To New York Knicks

Brown dropped 20 points, six rebounds, and six assists for Celtics in Game 6.

Jaylen Brown revealed his feelings after the Boston Celtics suffered a crushing 119-81 defeat by the New York Knicks in Game 6 of their Eastern Conference Semifinals. With the loss, the 18-time champions have been kicked out of the NBA Playoffs 2025, and ended their title defense journey. Following the loss, the Celtics’ star shooting guard shared his feelings and said that called the loss ‘unfortunate’.

Speaking with the media in the post-game conference, Brown said, “…Things didn’t go our way this year and it’s unfortunate. But we hold our head up, regardless. He added, “Losing to the Knicks feels like death.” However, despite the loss, the reigning Finals MVP is maintaining a positive outlook, stating that the team will now prepare for what’s coming next.

“Losing to the Knicks feels like death. But I was taught that there’s life after death. So we’ll get ready for whatever’s next.”

Brown stated, “But, I was always taught that there’s life after death. So, we’ll get ready for whatever’s next, whatever’s next in the journey I’ll be ready for.” Notably, the four-time NBA All-Star made the biggest contribution for the Celtics during the Friday-night game. He dropped 20 points, six rebounds, and six assists for the 2024 winners. However, Brown was fouled out in the third quarter, and witnessed his team going down for the rest of the game from the bench.

I’m Happy That Our Group Stayed Together- Jaylen Brown

The 28-year-old opened up on various aspects during the post-game interview, and while he seemed devastated with the loss, Brown knows ‘this too shall pass’. Speaking about how things took a dramatic turn for the Celtics towards the end, following an excellent season he said that this was not what his team was prepared for. He added that it is difficult to process everything right now and it would take time.

However, the Marietta-born added that he is happy that the entire team stayed together, accepting that it wasn’t their year. He stated, “Finishing in May is weird, definitely not something we were prepared for. Obviously, Jason and his injury etc. I’m sure there’s a lot to process just as everything, this whole year. But we’ll take a couple days, it’s hard processing it all right now in real time.”

He added, “But, I’m happy that our group stayed together. It was an honor to share the locker room with a lot of these guys, it hurts to see the emotions of all the guys being a leader and not being able to carry everybody to the promised land. It sucks, but it just wasn’t our year.”

Brown played 11 games this postseason and averaged 22.1 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per contest.
