FC Seoul 3-7 Barcelona: Flick’s Side Shine in Goal-Fest, but Defensive Frailties Remain

Barcelona turned on the style in a thrilling pre-season encounter against FC Seoul, putting seven goals past the Korean side in a match that highlighted their attacking firepower, but also exposed ongoing defensive concerns.

Lamine and Lewandowski Lead Early Charge

Hansi Flick’s men wasted no time asserting their dominance. Within 15 minutes, Barça were two goals up — Robert Lewandowski tapped in the opener after a Lamine Yamal effort struck the post, before the teenager netted a goal of his own to double the lead.

But just when it looked like a rout was inevitable, Barça eased off. A costly mistake in their own half by the number 10 gifted FC Seoul their first goal, breathing life into the home side. The equalizer came moments before the break, putting the hosts level and the Blaugrana on edge.

That was until Lamine Yamal struck again in first-half stoppage time, restoring Barça’s lead in trademark fashion — calm, clinical, and perfectly timed.

Second-Half Substitutes Keep the Pressure On

Flick rang in the changes at halftime, switching out all eleven players, but the quality and tempo remained. Andreas Christensen made an immediate impact with a rocket from distance to put Barça 4-2 ahead.

From that point on, the Catalans began to run riot. Ferran Torres added the fifth with a confident finish, before Gavi made it six in the 75th minute with a sharp turn and shot.

FC Seoul found a late consolation through Jung in the 85th minute, but Barça weren’t done yet.

Ferran Finishes It in Style for Barcelona

Marcus Rashford — involved for the first time this pre-season — played a clever ball that clipped off a defender and fell kindly for Ferran, who tucked it away for his second of the match and Barça’s seventh.

The attacking firepower is real — Lewandowski, Lamine, Ferran, and even Christensen showed that Flick’s Barcelona have multiple ways to break teams down. But conceding three goals, including two from avoidable errors, is something that can’t be ignored ahead of the competitive season.

If this game was about entertainment, it certainly delivered. But if it was about preparation, Barça’s biggest lesson is clear: the front is firing, but the back needs tightening.
