Manchester United entered the final four of the UEFA Europa League most dramatically. After going two nil up in the first half, the Red Devils saw their lead evaporate conceding twice in six minutes.

As the game went on to extra time with Lyon one man down, things went bad for Manchester United. Rayan Cherki on a counterattacking move by Lyon put his side ahead in the 104th minute. Manchester United went two down after conceding a penalty converted by Alexander Lacazette.

Quick to make up for a goal, Bruno Fernandes converted a penalty with five minutes to go in the match. Being 6-5 down on aggregate at the 120th-minute mark, the Theatre of Dreams delivered in the dying half. In what was an equisite far post finish from Kobbie Mainoo, the youngester put United level on aggregate (6-6) in the final minute of the official time.

Just when we thought we’ve seen enough, it didn’t take more than a minute for Harry Maguire to guide an header past Frankfurt keeper as the Red Devils went up by one goal. The Old Trafford erupted at the full-time whistle as Manchester United beat Lyon 7-6 on aggregate to qualify for the Europa League semifinals.

After having half decent Premier League season, Europa League remains their only option for the Champions League spot next season.
