Winner to face Mirra Andreeva in the R16.
Centre Court action on Day-2 of the WTA Ningbo Open 2025 will feature former US Open champion Emma Raducanu taking on home favorite Lin Zhu. The winner of this all-unseeded clash will face an uphill task of battling top seed Mirra Andreeva of Russia in the Round of 16 stage. While Raducanu starts as the firm favorite, the Briton will face stiff resistance from Zhu and the partisan Chinese crowd. Who will progress to the pre-quarterfinals? Follow BetMGM for all the important betting odds at Ningbo this week.
Emma Raducanu is currently ranked No. 29 in the world, and is searching for her first title of the season. The 22-year-old is undoubtedly the face of British women’s tennis, and her win-loss record of 28-21 does not do justice to the level she has produced at her peak. Raducanu won just three matches in her first six tournaments, before a quarterfinal run at the Miami Open got her season going. She also reached the quarterfinals at Queen’s Club, before an incredible run to the semifinals of the Citi DC Open. The Briton has won 58% points on her serve this year.
While Lin Zhu has a 56% success rate across competitions this year, the 31-year-old has not managed to impress in the Chinese swing so far. Since the beginning of August, she has picked up merely one tour-level victory. Zhu has reached the Round of 16 at Nottingham and Montreal – giving her a ranking of No. 219 in the world. In 2023, the Chinese sensation won the Thailand Open and also climbed to the 31st spot in the WTA Rankings. Zhu also has an impressive 11-5 record for the Chinese Fed Cup team.
The head-to-head record between Emma Raducanu and Lin Zhu is currently 0-0. The Ningbo Open 2025 Round of 32 will be their first meeting on tour.
| Emma Raducanu | Category | Lin Zhu |

The hard courts in China will favor the flat baseline attacks of Raducanu. Although she is the clear favorite on paper, the focus will be on her fitness. The 22-year-old retired in Wuhan, and has a longstanding struggle with injury concerns. Zhu must look to mix things up against the Grand Slam champion, and bring her to the net as often as possible. However, we do not believe that the Chinese starlet has what it takes to outhit a fully fit Raducanu.
Prediction: Emma Raducanu in straight sets.
