Elijah Arroyo NFL Draft Projection- Where will the Hurricanes Tight End Land?

Elijah Arroyo loved to play football ever since he was a little kid. At the age of just 6 years old, Arroyo and his family decided to move from Miami to Cancun, Mexico, because of his father’s job as a timeshare salesman. However, that did not stop Arroyo from playing football, as he continued to develop his skills in Cancun.

Arroyo moved back to Miami at the age of 13 and attended Independence High School in Texas. He’s was a four star recruit coming out of high school who committed to play college football for the Miami Hurricanes, returning back to his beloved city.

Arroyo’s college football career got off to a rocky start, as after his freshman year where he played 12 games and recorded 5 receptions, 86 receiving yards, and a touchdown, he was injured for the majority of his second and third year of college football season. He only played 11 games in the two seasons combined, because of a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Despite all the injuries, Arroyo came back in the 2024 season, which also happened to be his final college football season, and had his breakout year, recording 590 receiving yards, 35 receptions, and 7 receiving touchdowns. He was named to the Second-Team All-ACC for his efforts in his final year, and is widely regarded as a player with a high ceiling going into the NFL Draft.

Elijah Arroyo’s Draft Profile

Arroyo’s draft stock has been questioned particularly because of his injury history that he suffered in 2022 and 2023. When he is on the field, Arroyo’s displayed willingness to be a good move blocker, but there are questions about his play strength and technique, which he didn’t really get a chance to sharpen, missing a chunk of two college football seasons.

He has soft hands when it comes to catches, can make route adjustments for his quarterback, and plays with a lot of instinct and deception, to find openings. However, Arroyo acceleration off the line and into the routes, is a cause of concern, and has very little experience coming into the NFL, compared to his peers.

Elijah Arroyo Draft Projection

Elijah Arroyo is projected to be drafted as a Day 2 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, potentially landing anywhere between late second round or early third round.

Some mock drafts suggest that Arroyo could be picked by the Cleveland Browns, as they have four picks in Day 2 of the 2025 Draft. His injuries has really hurt his draft stock as most teams tend to avoid prospect who were heavily injured prior to coming into the NFL.
