The Ninth-seed, Elana Rybakina will take on Canadian sensation Victoria Mboko in the semifinals of the National Bank Open. The Kazakh ace dispatched Marta Kostyuk in the quarterfinals with a straight-set victory. Mboko, the local girl overcame Jessica Bouzas Maneiro to reach her maiden WTA semifinals.

Rybakina will enter her second consecutive semifinals in ongoing North American hard-court swing. The 26-yar-old had a semifinal run in the Citi DC Open where she lost to eventual winner, Leylah Fernandez. The Kazakh had a great season so far, winning a title in Strasbourg and making deep runs in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, London, and Berlin. 

Mboko, 18, surprised everyone by making an upset win over top-seed Coco Gauff in the fourth round. She made into her first WTA level semifinals and will soon enter in the top-50 of the WTA rankings. The Canadian ace came through a dominating run in the ITA circuit, winning five titles and setting a Canadian women’s record with 20 consecutive main-draw victories.
