The 9th-seeded, Elena Rybakina will take on Dayana Yastremska of Ukraine in the round of 16 tie in the National Bank Open 2025. Rybakina dispatched Jaqueline Cristian in straight sets to reach the fourth round, while Yastremska beat 8th-seed Emma Navarro 7-5, 6-4 to claim the R16 ticket. It will be the second meeting between these two players on the WTA tour.

Elena Rybakina looked dominating in first two matches in Montreal and in previous game, she won the first set without conceding a game and later, clinched the second set in tie-break. The Kazakh ace secured a title Strasbourg and had a semifinal run in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Washington. She also reached the quarterfinals in Berlin and London but she is looking for a deep run in the hard-court season. In previous game, Rybakina was great on serve to win 89% (25/28) of her 1st serve and 65% (15/23) on the second serve. The 26-year-old has a composed 35-14 win-loss record in 2025, including 19-8 on hard.

Dayana Yastremska showed glimpses of hard-court brilliance after knocking out Emma Navarro in the round of 32. She was pretty aggressive to blast 34 winners and won 72% (34/47) of the points behind her 1st serve. She hasn’t won a title this year but had a runner-up finish in Linz and Nottingham. Following a third-round exit in Wimbledon, the Ukrainian ace reached the semifinals in Bad Hamburg. Yastremska has posted a 30-16 W/L record this year, including 10-7 on hard. She dropped her best run in Montreal since 2019.
