Canucks secure forward Drew O'Connor on a two-year, $5 million deal to bolster their offensive depth.
The Vancouver Canucks have locked in forward Drew O’Connor for the next two seasons, signing him to a two-year, $5 million contract extension. The deal will see the 26-year-old winger carry a $2.5 million cap hit for both the 2025-26 and 2026-27 seasons. His salary structure includes a $775K base salary with a $2.075 million signing bonus in the first year, followed by a $2.15 million salary in the second year without additional bonuses.
O’Connor has split this season between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Canucks, appearing in 57 games and tallying 18 points (8 goals, 10 assists) along with 22 penalty minutes. Last season, he posted career-best numbers with the Penguins, recording 16 goals, 17 assists, and 33 points while averaging a career-high 15:45 in ice time.

Originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Penguins on March 10, 2020, O’Connor has played in 214 NHL games across five seasons, accumulating 68 points (32 goals, 36 assists) and 60 penalty minutes. His postseason experience is limited to two Stanley Cup Playoff games during the 2021-22 season.

A native of Chatham, New Jersey, O’Connor also represented the United States at the 2023 World Championships, where he contributed eight points (3 goals, 5 assists) in 10 games and helped Team USA to a fourth-place finish. With his new contract in place, O’Connor will look to solidify his role in Vancouver and provide valuable depth as the Canucks continue their push for success.
