Los Angeles Dodgers vs. New York Yankees Preview, Predictions and Betting Odds – Saturday, May 31, 2025

Will Warren vs Landon Knack.

If Friday’s opener was any indication, odds and predictions mean little when the Dodgers and Yankees meet. For the Yankees, it wasn’t déjà vu, not exactly. But it sure felt familiar.

In their long-awaited rematch with the Dodgers on Friday, the Yankees once again jumped out to an early lead, and once again, watched it disappear. Shohei Ohtani’s second homer of the night ignited a six-run Dodgers rally in the sixth inning, turning a 5-2 New York cushion into an 8-5 loss that echoed the collapse in Game 5 of last year’s World Series.

The series now moves on to game 2. Can the Yankees maintain their seven consecutive series win streak, or will the Dodgers once again flex their offensive muscle? The Dodgers (35-22) remain on top of the NL West, while the Yankees (35-21) still lead the AL East.

Dodgers vs. Yankees Preview

The Yankees will turn to rookie right-hander Will Warren, who enters Saturday’s start with a 3-2 record, a 4.09 ERA, and a 1.26 WHIP over 11 outings. While his season stats are modest, Warren has been sharper lately. Over his last seven starts, he’s posted a 3.60 ERA and punched out 51 batters in 35 innings, a positive sign as he prepares to face one of the toughest lineups in baseball.

New York’s offense remains among the league’s best, leading the American League in home runs (88) and ranking third in runs per game (5.55). They’ve also been strong away from home with a 17-11 road record, but defensive miscues and shaky middle relief continue to raise questions against elite teams.

The Dodgers will counter with Landon Knack, a righty still trying to find his footing in the rotation. Knack is 2-2 with a 5.22 ERA, and while he’s shown flashes of promise, he’ll need a clean outing to keep the Yankees’ bats at bay.

Once again, both teams are offensive powerhouses, and Friday night proved that even a starter having the season of his life (Max Fried) won’t be spared.

Dodgers vs. Yankees Predictions

After an early scare in Game 1, the Dodgers showed exactly why they’re one of the most dangerous teams in baseball, storming back from a 3-run deficit to claim an 8–5 win. That resilience, combined with a scorching-hot Shohei Ohtani and the overall depth of their lineup, gives them a clear edge heading into the next matchup. While both teams boast elite offenses, the expected starters – Will Warren for the Yankees and Landon Knack for the Dodgers – lack experience and consistency, which sets the stage for another high-scoring affair. The Yankees have struggled to get production from key infield spots like second and third base. Given the momentum shift, lineup depth, and recent edge over the Yankees, the Dodgers are slight favorites again in what could be another game that sails over the total.
