The Pistons will come into this game after a disappointing 10-point loss(117-127) against the Sacramento Kings, despite a 35-point performance by Cade Cunningham. It was one of their disappointing defeats of the season, as they were at home and played a team in a back-to-back situation. This was their second straight loss, and the team has lost four of their last five games, three of them by double-digits. Thus, the squad is losing rhythm at the worst time possible.

On the other hand, the Knicks will come into this game after a gut-wrenching 2-point loss against the Boston Celtics in Overtime. The team allowed Jayson Tatum to tie the game around three seconds left in the fourth quarter. Meanwhile, Kristaps Porzingis’s triple put the nail in the coffin during the OT. If not for these lapses, the Knicks would have defeated the defending champs for the first time this season. The Knicks are 7-3 after a 3-6 period, indicating they are ready for the postseason but need to close out games.

Potential First-Round Match-up

The Knicks are currently the third seed, but the Indiana Pacers still have a chance to take over. However, there is a high chance that the team retains the seed. Meanwhile, the Pistons are in sixth place, they can’t fall lower even if they lose their remaining games. Thus, the two teams can cross their swords in the first round. It will be one of the most interesting matchups out there.

The Pistons have a 2-1 lead over New York during their season series, thus, this game has major implications for the season series. The return of Jalen Brunson means the team matches up well with the Pistons’ PG Cade Cunningham. The Pistons have scored at least 120 in the last two battles, while New York has scored 119 or more in two of the three battles. Despite such big numbers, I don’t see a high-scoring affair, and the total can go below 230 here.

Cade Cunningham to be held under 26.5 points: Cunningham has averaged over 27 points per game since March. He has tallied 29 PPG in the three games against the Knicks, but I expect their defense to hold them below the mark.

Jalen Duren to grab over 11.5 rebounds: Duren has averaged over 10 rebounds per game throughout the season. However, he has averaged just 6 RPG against the Knicks this season. I expect him to double that mark.

New York Knicks Player Props Predictions – Projected Top Bets & Odds

Karl Anthony-Towns to score over 25.5 points: The Knicks versatile scorer has averaged around 24 PPG throughout the season. He has put up 23.5 PPG against the Pistons thus far, but I believe he will breach the 26-point mark here.

Josh Hart to grab over 10.5 rebounds: The Knicks hustle guard has accumulated 9.6 RPG this season and has put up similar numbers against the Detroit Pistons this season. I expect him to clasp 10+ boards here.

Detroit Pistons vs New York Knicks Match Prediction

This is a big-time game between two teams that will most likely face each other during the playoffs. Detroit hasn’t played their best lately, espescially on the defensive end. Meanwhile, the Knicks are stellar defensively. However, a 2-1 series advantage will make the home team more confident. But I have faith that the Knicks will win this game by 5-7 points with OG Anunoby, Jalen Brunson, and KAT combining for 75-80 points.

UPDATE: Josh Hart, OG Anunoby, and Mitchell Ronbins are OUT, significantly tilting the game in favor of the home team. But the Knicks can still make a match out of it. However, now the Pistons hold all the cards. Still, I see New York springing up a surprise.
