Deion Sanders Reveals the Only Condition for Coaching in the NFL

Since joining the Colorado Buffaloes, Deion Sanders has become a major talking point in the football world.

Even without a College Football Playoff appearance, his team has gained significant attention, as have its players. Two Buffaloes players are projected to be in strong positions for the upcoming NFL Draft.

Throughout the season, speculation about Deion Sanders potentially moving to the NFL has fueled heated discussions. The struggles of the Dallas Cowboys have only added to this buzz, with Sanders frequently mentioned as a possible replacement for head coach Mike McCarthy.

However, for now, it seems unlikely that such a move will happen.

Sanders has, nonetheless, made it clear what his one and only condition would be for coaching in the NFL: the opportunity to coach his sons.

“The only way I would even consider coaching in the NFL is if I could coach my sons. And I mean my SONS, not just one of them,” Sanders stated during an appearance on ABC.

Is This a Realistic Possibility?

First and foremost, Deion Sanders has a strong connection to Colorado and the program he is helping to build. It seems improbable that he would leave Colorado for the NFL at this stage. The condition of having both of his sons on the same NFL team makes the scenario even less likely. Moreover, Sanders himself, as a larger-than-life figure, adds another layer of complexity to this situation.

A Contract Extension for Sanders at Colorado?

According to reports, Sanders is expected to receive a lucrative contract extension at Colorado. The “Coach Prime” effect has had a massive impact on the Buffaloes, both on and off the field.

Currently, Sanders is under a five-year, $29.5 million contract with Colorado. The deal includes a renegotiation clause after the third year, allowing either party to adjust its terms. Additionally, if Sanders were to leave the program prematurely, he would owe a portion of the contract’s value back to the university.

This makes a jump to the NFL in the near future even more unlikely.

Could Sanders Still Be an NFL Candidate?

Despite these obstacles, Sanders’ name will undoubtedly come up during the NFL offseason, with teams like the Raiders, Jaguars, and Patriots potentially seeking new head coaches.

For now, however, it seems that Deion Sanders is firmly rooted in his role at Colorado, focused on continuing to elevate the program and his players.
