Davante Adams and Aaron Rodgers reunited again
Las Vegas Raiders’ receiver, Davante Adams has been traded to the New-York Jets for a conditional 3rd round pick that can become a 2nd round pick as Ian Rapoport reported. The New-York Jets were among several teams interested in the receiver such as the Steelers and the Saints.
Adams will be reunited with Aaron Rodgers after the Packers traded the star receiver to the Raiders during 2022 off-season. The Raiders then gave Adams a 5-year, $140 million contract with $65.7 million guaranteed. Davante Adams’ tenure with the Las Vegas Raiders has been marked by impressive receiving statistics, even amid the team’s shifting dynamics.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the third round pick will become a second round pick if Davante Adams makes 1st or 2nd AP All Pro team. The conditional pick will also be upgraded if the new Jets wideout is on the active roster for the AFC championship game or the Super Bowl.
Since joining the Raiders in 2022, Adams has accumulated 221 receptions, 2,869 receiving yards, and 23 touchdowns over 37 games, maintaining his status as one of the league’s elite wide receivers. In his first season with Las Vegas (2022), he led with 100 catches for 1,516 yards and 14 touchdowns, averaging a robust 89.2 yards per game.
The following season in 2023, while his average per game slightly dipped to 67.3 yards, he still reached over 1,100 receiving yards with 103 receptions and 8 touchdowns. His performance reflects consistent target dominance, as he logged 175 targets that year, indicating how integral he remained to the Raiders’ offense .
In 2024, though the season is ongoing, Davante Adams has shown reliable form with 209 yards and a touchdown across his first three games, proving his continued effectiveness despite some team changes.
As per latest information from Spotrac, the Jets will pay Davante Adams’ remaining salary for this season and the next two. For the remainder of the 2024 season, Adams will be paid a guaranteed amount of $11.5 million. With a potential out after the 2024 season ends, the Jets will have to rework a deal with Adams for the final two years. Though Adams is set to make $36.25 million dollars for 2025 and 2026 season, neither of those years are guaranteed.
