Their first meeting took place in the beginning of the season, which saw the Sparks registering a 93-79 win over Dallas. For the Wings, DiJonai Carrington dropped 16 points, four rebounds, and four assists, while JJ Quinerly came up with 14 points, two rebounds, and four assists. Luisa Geiselsoder came up with 11 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists. Since that game, a lot has changed. The Wings traded Carrington to the Minnesota Lynx in exchange for Diamond Miller, Karlie Samuelson, and a 2027 second-round pick. Not only this, but earlier in the season, the Wings also sent NaLyssa Smith to the Las Vegas Aces.

Currently, the Sparks are in the ninth spot of the standings with a 15-17 record, while the Wings are in the eleventh spot with a win-loss tally of 9-24.
