Dallas Mavericks vs Houston Rockets Preview

The Mavericks stay afloat in the post-Doncic era

The Mavericks enter this match after a 7-point win against the Boston Celtics as Klay Thompson erupted for 25 points. The win broke a three-game losing streak and beating the defending champs would have given the Mavs an immense confidence boost. Anthony Davis is likely going to make his Mavs debut during this game, and his fit with Kyrie Irving and Klay Thompson looks promising. He will also have the luxury to play at his Power Forward spot which can unlock his best version. Thus, if AD remains healthy and gels with the Mavs’ lineup, they can make a serious push toward the top-six rankings.

The Rockets are in exhaustion mode

The Rockets come into this game after a 13-point loss against the Minnesota Timberwolves despite a 28-point outburst by Jalen Green. They have now lost five in a row, because of which they have slipped from the second to the fourth seed in the West. The defense has taken a huge blow while an injury to Alperen Sengun also took the steam out of their depth. The absence of Fred Van Vleet and Tari Eason doesn’t help either. At any rate, the squad has a solid foundation to build upon despite the current downward trajectory.

Dallas Mavericks vs Houston Rockets– Final Prediction and Additional Information

The Mavericks will be keen to welcome Anthony Davis on the court, and if he is available then their confidence will by sky-high. AD is recovering from an abdomen issue but will like to impose his will over the exhausted Rockets frontline. If he plays then the Mavs can eke out a 5+ points win. The total can be over 220 points but under 235.

Hi, I am Shubham. I am currently an NBA Predictions Writer on The Playoffs. I enjoy this job because it helps keep me in the loop about the game I love while fulfilling the pleasure I derive from stats. I got into NBA writing through social media interactions in the mid-2010s as I shared my takes on young talents such as D’Angelo Russell. I hope you enjoy reading my pieces as much as Dennis Rodman loved rebounding the basketball!
