Cade Cunningham replicates a stunning show to help the Detroit Pistons overcome the Atlanta Hawks 122-121 on Friday night. The 23-year-old pulled off a heist to bail out Piston through his running hook shot with nine seconds left in the game.
The former Oklahoma State Cowboys star netted his third straight triple-double with 22 points, 11 rebounds and 13 assists. Cunningham was averaging 22.9 points, 7.7 assists, and 6.8 rebounds ahead of this tie. Detroit squandered a 24-point lead to secure a consecutive win at Little Caesars Arena. Malik Beasley and Tobias Harris also paced the Pistons, scoring 22 points each. Jaden Ivey chipped in 18 points in the process.
Cunningham had a steal and a block while shooting 8-for-17 from the field. Detroit had no answer in the final quarter where the Hawks outscored Piston 36-27. The hosts had a 120-119 lead when Atlanta’s Trae Young added on a pair of foul shots to pull off a comeback. It was the clutch basket from Cunningham on a running left-hander in final 10 seconds which guided a win for Pistons.
