Here is an early look on Sunday Night Football's matchup between the Cowboys and the 49ers
This Cowboys vs 49ers matchup for week 8 Sunday Night football is a must win for both teams.
Both teams have lost their previous matchup and are banged up by injuries. Nick Bosa, Deebo Samuel, George Kittle are all listed at this moment as questionable for the 49ers. On the other side, Micah Parsons is also listed as questionnable for the Cowboys.
Cowboys and especially their receiving corp are under criticism from former players for not doing as much as they should do.
This game is critical for Mike McCarthy’s future as a head coach of the Dallas Cowboys
This is not a win or go home type of game but it could definitely shape the rest of season for both teams.
Standing at 3-3, the Dallas Cowboys begin a three-games stand against team that were in the playoffs last year. Considering their recent struggles on both side of the ball, this Cowboys vs 49ers matchup is a nightmare.
As of Friday, the 49ers’ offense is decimated, leaving Brock Purdy on his own. If Samuel, Kittle can be back on track, the 49ers are a legitimate favorite at home to beat this underperforming Cowboys team.
The 49ers, despite a rocky start, have been productive offensively, averaging 149.9 rushing yards per game, which is seventh-best in the league.
They also maintain a solid 4.9 yards per carry, indicating that they can capitalize on Dallas’s struggles with run defense (Dallas ranks last in the NFL in Rush EPA allowed).
The Cowboys, led by Dak Prescott, are averaging 259.3 passing yards per game, and CeeDee Lamb is expected to be a critical target given the 49ers’ struggles in pass coverage, particularly with Charvarius Ward’s coverage stats (allowing a 101.7 QB rating against him).
Considering all that, the 49ers might be able to cover the spread against this poor Cowboys defense that has been tear apart by the Lions.
But the condition might be to have Samuel and Kittle back to give Brock Purdy more options.
