Yegor Chinakhov sidelined with an upper-body injury; Jet Greaves steps up as the Blue Jackets prepare for a clash against the Capitals.

The Columbus Blue Jackets have announced that forward Yegor Chinakhov has been placed on injured reserve, retroactive to November 27. In a corresponding move, the team has called up goaltender Jet Greaves from their AHL affiliate, the Cleveland Monsters, as confirmed by President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Don Waddell.

Chinakhov, 23, has been sidelined for seven games due to an upper-body injury sustained in a game against the Montreal Canadiens on November 27. Before his injury, he had tallied seven goals and seven assists, contributing 14 points across 21 games this season.

Over his NHL career, which began in the 2021-22 season, the Omsk, Russia native has compiled 70 points (34 goals, 36 assists) in 166 games. Chinakhov was Columbus’ first-round pick (21st overall) in the 2020 NHL Draft.

Jet Greaves, also 23, has been called up to provide goaltending depth. Greaves has played 10 NHL games with the Blue Jackets, earning a 3-7-0 record with a 3.44 goals-against average (GAA) and a .912 save percentage (SV%) since his debut on April 4, 2023, against Toronto.

In the AHL, he has been a standout with the Cleveland Monsters, where he recently earned Goaltender of the Month honors for November. He posted a 7-1-0 record with a 2.37 GAA and a.927 SV% in eight games during that stretch.

The Blue Jackets will be back in action on Thursday as they host the Washington Capitals at Nationwide Arena. The game starts at 7 p.m. ET, with live coverage on FanDuel Sports Network Ohio and their app beginning at 6:30 p.m. Fans can also tune in via the Blue Jackets Radio Network or listen online at BlueJackets.com.

I’ve always loved writing and storytelling, and hockey gives me a perfect stage for endless stories to tell. Whether it’s breaking down a game, analyzing a big trade, or capturing the emotions on the ice, I bring the NHL to life through words. So what’s the best part you ask? Watching the action unfold and turning it into something fans can connect with. To my readers: Hockey is more than just a game—it’s the highs, the heartbreaks, and the moments that make us jump off our seats. So, keep cheering, keep debating, and never stop loving the madness of the sport!
