South Carolina Gamecocks’ power forward Collin Murray-Boyles emerged as one of the most productive players in college basketball. An interesting prospect in the 2025 N B A Draft, Murray Boyles has displayed his ability to play both frontcourt positions at the college level. He went to A.C. Flora High School in South Carolina but later transferred to Wasatch Academy in Mount Pleasant, Utah. In his senior year, the 20-year-old averaged 15.0 points and 8.8 rebounds per contest.

The Columbia-native was a four-star recruit and a Top-100 prospect before he moved to South Carolina for college. At University of South Carolina, he recorded remarkable growth during his freshman and sophomore seasons. In his first year, Murray-Boyles averaged 10.4 points and 5.7 rebounds in 28 games.

The record improved to 16.8 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.4 assists in 32 games, all starts, in his sophomore season. Known as one of the most physical and intelligent defenders in collegiate basketball, Murray-Boyles is a top prospect in the forthcoming 2025 NBA Draft.

Collin Murray-Boyles’ Scouting Report- Strengths and Weaknesses

Strengths-

He is known as one of the most elite defenders who would enter the 2025 NBA Draft. Despite not being the most vertical athlete, Murray-Boyles’ intellect, strength, foot speed, and coordination makes him a formidable player. He has a wingspan of over seven feet which he uses to choke his rivals.
He has a quick reaction time and maintains excellent hand-eye coordination. His timing for contesting shots at the rim makes him an efficient player on the court.
Murray-Boyles has a high defensive IQ, which helps him figure out opponents’ moves and smother them with positioning, steals and deflections.
He uses his strength to grab both offensive and defensive rebounds.
Apart from his dominance via defense, Murray-Boyles has smooth footwork as well as the skills to control himself for sharp finishes.

Weaknesses-

Collin Murray-Boyles wasn’t a good shooter in high school and he must figure out that part of his game.
He is not particularly tall or huge. It comes as a concern since he cannot be a full-time defender against the big men. He also has a limited diversity from beyond the arc, and his nine total made threes on 34 attempts says a lot about it.
