The Cavs are in killer mode again
The Cavaliers enter the match after a remarkable 22-point win against the Atlanta Hawks as Darius Garland put up 26 points. They have won three in a row to erase the blues of an unprecedented three-game losing streak. They already have 15-game and 12-game winning streaks under their belt, thus even a mini-streak looks like a pathway to replicate similar victorious spells. Their offense is A-1 as they have scored 122.2 points per game(2nd) during the season, however, their defense has been a bit prone, as they gave up 115.4 PPG in January(10th worst)
The Mavericks are barely hanging on
The Mavericks come into this contest despite a 15-point loss against the Detroit Pistons despite a 28-point performance by Kyrie Irving. This loss broke a rare two-game winning streak and they have lost 12 out of their last 18 games. The losing period unsurprisingly coincides with a major calf injury to their ace Luka Doncic. His more than a month long absence has derailed their chances of repeating the 2024 Finals run. While Klay Thompson has been terrific in spurts, he hasn’t been able to provide ample backcourt support to Irving without Doncic. The offensive consistencies are now also having a huge impact on the defense and the team is anxiously waiting for Doncic to return before the All-Star break.

The Cavs will be confident about their chances for many reasons. The Mavs lack depth in multiple positions whereas the Cavaliers’ offensive arsenal can easily demolish their defense. This can be a one-sided affair with the Cavs notching a 15+ points win and they may contain the Mavs below 110 here while scoring 125+.

nba Hi, I am Shubham. I am currently an NBA Predictions Writer on The Playoffs. I enjoy this job because it helps keep me in the loop about the game I love while fulfilling the pleasure I derive from stats. I got into NBA writing through social media interactions in the mid-2010s as I shared my takes on young talents such as D’Angelo Russell. I hope you enjoy reading my pieces as much as Dennis Rodman loved rebounding the basketball!
