Kansas City Chiefs vs Detroit Lions Predictions, Odds and Best Bets For Week 6 SNF of the 2025-26 NFL Season

Eric Divakaran

The Kansas City Chiefs are set to face the Detroit Lions for Sunday Night Football action of Week 6. This interconference matchup features some of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, featuring Jared Goff and Patrick Mahomes. The Chiefs have been struggling heavily this season going 2-3 so far, dropping their last matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars despite putting up 28 points. The Chiefs’ defense has been a concern since Week 1 and they only rank 13th amongst others, a disappointing stat looking at their Super Bowl winning seasons.

On the other hand, the Detroit Lions, after dropping their Week 1 matchup against the Packers, having found their rhythm and are currently on a 4-game winning streak, defeating the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 5. Their offensive unit have been a problem this season with Jared Goff, Amon Ra-St. Brown, David Montgomery, and Jahmyr Gibbs.

While the Chiefs have the upper hand talking about the head-to-head, 9-6 all time, the Detroit Lions are arguably the best team in the NFL currently, and it will not be easy for either teams to pull off a win.

Analysis and Rationale

Jahmyr Gibbs has been unstoppable this season for the Lions, scoring 4 touchdowns and 325 rushing yards, with 70 rushing attempts. He has been one of the Lions’ most go-to scorers and they rely on him to make plays. Except for his first game, Gibbs has had at least 10 attempts in the last four games, and looking at the Chiefs’ rushing defense, ranking 21st, we expect the Lions to go with a run-heavy approach using Gibbs.

Similar to Gibbs, David Montgomery is a threat to score at any point in time because of his dominance on the field and the Lions’ tendency to use a run-heavy approach against weaker defenses. Montgomery has already scored 4 TDs this season on 310 rushing yards, and he’s also had at least 10 rushing attempts in every game expect one. Looking at his performance against the Ravens in Week 3 where he rushed for 151 yards and 2 TDs, he could do similar kind of damage to the Chiefs’ 21st ranked rush defense.

It is likely that Isiah Pacheco stays under 7.5 rushing attempts simply because of the Lions’ stout rushing defense, ranking 7th in the league. Detroit has only allowed 4 rushing TDs through five weeks this season, on an average of 92.2 rushing yard allowed average so far. Pacheco’s had back-to-back games with only 7 rushing attempts and we believe the Lions’ defense is simply too good for Andy Reid to rely on his running back.

Chiefs vs Lions Prediction

We believe the Detroit Lions will take home the victory, despite going against the Chiefs at their home field. The Chiefs have been heavily struggling so far, and whether you want to point at their injuries or lack of offensive production from their receivers or tight ends, or their inconsistent defense, the Chiefs are currently not looking like a team that’s ready to beat Super Bowl ready teams.

The Lions’ momentum (winning 4 straight) and with Jared Goff playing like an MVP candidate, along with his receivers and running backs, they should prove to be too much for the Chiefs to handle for this Week 6 Sunday Night Football action.

Prediction: Lions win the game 31- 28

I cover the National Football League and things cannot get better than that. I always dreamed to play football or basketball professionally since I’m built like a Running Back. But now that I can’t, since I’m technically in the “Unc” age, I thought why not pick a career in sports industry? So here I am, doing what I love, and hoping that the Commanders win the Super Bowl. I give love to players when it’s due, but can be critical about their performances at the same time. Enough about me, now let my articles do all the talking.
