The Chicago Sky will welcome the New York Liberty at Wintrust Arena on Thursday, September 11, in their final game for the 2025 WNBA season. Chicago was one of first teams to get kicked out of the playoffs, while the reigning champions successfully clinched their fifth consecutive playoff seed. They will aim to secure their third consecutive WNBA Finals berth this season as well.

The Sky will head into the upcoming fixture on the back of a three-game losing streak. In their last game, they suffered a blowout loss to the Las Vegas Aces, and the defeat pushed their seasonal tally to 10-33. Having occupied 12th seed in the standings, the 2021 champions have recorded their second-worst season this year. This is for the second consecutive time that they have been knocked out from the playoffs race.

On the other hand, the New York Liberty are aiming to defend their championship.Though they kicked off the season on a strong note and secured five back-to-back wins, the Liberty couldn’t keep up their momentum and faltered. After spending more than half of the season in the top two, the Sabrina Ionescu-led team slid down and is currently in the fifth spot of the standings.

New York will enter their last regular-season fixture on the back of a two-game winning streak. In their most-recent game, they recorded a huge 75-66 win over the Washington Mystics.

Considering that the regular season has reached its final leg, both teams would aim to secure a victory irrespective of their qualification.

In addition to them, Angel Reese has been listed as questionable with a back injury. Elizabeth Williams is also questionable for the regular-season finale with a calf injury.
