Chicago Bulls are currently sitting in the 9th spot in the Eastern Conference standings.
The Chicago Bulls traded away their two best players, DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine to the Sacramento Kings. After years of trying to win around the two stars, the Bulls decided it was time to head in a different direction. First off, when they acquired Lonzo Ball, DeRozan, Caruso, and LaVine, they looked great in the beginning but after Ball went down with an injury, everything started to slowly fall apart for the Bulls.
Sure, they were in the playoffs for a couple of times but they never could get past the first round of the playoffs. The two stars never really fit together with the team and their offense was mostly DeRozan making tough mid-range shots, and Zach standing in the corner and shooting spot up threes or driving down the lane to dunk the ball.
After three seasons of trial, the Bulls decided to blow it up. Now they have new pieces like Josh Giddey, rookie Matas Buzelis, Kevin Huerter, and even though they are not the most talented team, they are still winning games, enough to land themselves to the play-in most possibly. Coby White is quietly having a great season averaging 20 points and shooting 44.4 percent from the field, and has been leading the Bulls so far. With all the young pieces in Chicago, the question to be asked is, can the Bulls enter the playoffs? Let’s find out.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have firmly secured themselves as the number one seed in the Eastern Conference and have the best record in the entire NBA. Whereas, the Boston Celtics are the owners of the second second. The third seed is still into play as the Knicks have been struggling ever since their star Jalen Brunson went down with an injury. While the 7th seed is almost out of reach for the Bulls to catch up to, there is still a chance that Chicago can end up as the 8th seed, as the Orlando Magic are only a couple of games away from the Bulls.

The Bulls are currently the 9th seed in the East with a 31-40 record, and are projected to climb up to the 8th seed. They have 32.0% chance to make it into the playoffs according to Basketball Reference. They also have a 22.7% chance to finish the season as the 8th seed, and only 9.3% chance to finish as the 7th seed in the East.
Playoff Seed | Percentage |
7 | 9.3 |
8 | 22.7 |
The Bulls have a chance to finish as the 8th seed, but finishing 8th would mean that they would have to face the Cleveland Cavaliers, which is not at all a favorable matchup for the Bulls. They also have a puncher’s chance of finishing as the 7th seed, however, that would mean that the Bulls will have to take on the reigning defending champs.

If the Bulls end up winning in the play-in tournament, facing either Boston or Cleveland in the very first round is a nightmare for any team, let alone the Bulls and frankly there is no chance that they will advance past the first round unless a miracle occurs.
