Chelsea vs Liverpool Head to Head: Who Holds the Edge in Overall Record Ahead of Premier League Clash?

Moumita Dutta

Liverpool are set to travel to Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening for a pivotal Premier League clash. This match could reshape the top of the table early into the season. The reigning champions are under pressure after back-to-back defeats.

Meanwhile Chelsea are hoping to regain form after sailing through a mixed start under Enzo Maresca. Despite early title talk, Chelsea’s inconsistency and disciplinary problems have hurt their momentum. It has now left them in mid-table with two wins from six games.

On the other hand, Liverpool are looking quite unconvincing in recent performances. They’ve lost to Crystal Palace and Galatasaray in quick succession. With this form, both sides are desperate for a response in what remains one of English football’s fiercest modern rivalries.

Chelsea vs Liverpool Premier League 2025-26 Team News

Trevoh Chalobah is suspended after his red card against Brighton, while Mykhaylo Mudryk also serves a ban. Injuries are also piling up for Chelsea. Tosin Adarabioyo, Cole Palmer, Levi Colwill, Liam Delap, and Dario Essugo are all sidelined. Enzo Maresca confirmed he could be missing “seven or eight players,” with Wesley Fofana and Andrey Santos doubtful. If Fofana fails to recover, teenager Josh Acheampong may again be called upon to partner Benoit Badiashile in defence.

Liverpool’s defeat to Galatasaray brought more woes, with goalkeeper Alisson Becker ruled out due to a groin injury. Hugo Ekitike is also a doubt with a thigh issue, while long-term absentee Giovanni Leoni remains unavailable. Federico Chiesa could make his return from a minor injury. Alexander Isak is also expected to start up front, aiming to continue his strong scoring record at Stamford Bridge.
