Rationale and Analysis

For our first bet, we picked Justin Herbert to have over 3.5 rushing attempts in this game because of the Colts’ passing defense which ranks 22nd. The Colts might be expecting Herbert to throw the ball more in this game, given their vulnerabilities and he might just use that to his advantage to gain yardages.

While most of the praise has gone towards Colts QB Daniel Jones and rightfully so, their RB Jonathan Taylor is quietly have an elite season. He’s tallied 603 yards in 6 games so far and has 7 TDs. The Chargers have a shaky run defense and rank 12th in scoring defense, which leaves room for Taylor to capitalize on and score a TD at any time.

RB Kimani Vidal had an explosive game against the Dolphins in Week 6, with 124 rushing yards on 18 attempts and 3 receptions. He was the difference maker for the Chargers last game, and even though he did not score, he is a threat to score in the game against the Colts. Indianapolis ranks 15th in redzone defense and 12th on against the run. If Vidal gets similar amount of touches this game, he is a threat to score a TD.

Going against a team like the Colts who are red hot to start the season, and the fact that the Chargers nearly lost to a Miami team that has been heavily struggling, we expect the Colts to take down the Chargers.
