Wildcard Cameron Norrie faces a tough opener at Queen’s as he takes on eighth seed Jakub Mensik. The 19-year-old Czech made headlines by capturing his first ATP title at the Miami Masters, stunning Novak Djokovic in back-to-back tiebreaks, a dream breakthrough for a player who only turned pro in 2022.

Norrie, on the other hand, is still chasing his first match win of the season. The Brit did show signs of resurgence with a career-best fourth-round run at Roland Garros, but he remains in a title drought since lifting his fifth ATP singles trophy at the 2023 Rio Open.

Mensik has steadily built a strong 2025 season. After back-to-back quarterfinal runs in Brisbane and Auckland, the Czech reached the third round in Melbourne and later found form with a Challenger semifinal in Cap Cana. He then delivered a breakout title run in Miami, upsetting Tomas Machac, Arthur Fils, Taylor Fritz, and Novak Djokovic.

A quarterfinal in Madrid followed, though he’s fallen early elsewhere. Statistically, he’s been dominant behind serve, racking up 418 aces, winning 79% of first-serve points, and converting 38% of 215 break points.

Norrie, meanwhile, has endured a bumpy ride. Aside from a quarterfinal in Delray and a semifinal in Geneva, where he beat Machac and Alexie Popyrin before falling to Djokovic, most of his season has been marked by early exits.

Still, a career-best fourth-round finish at Roland Garros suggests a turnaround could be in motion. So far, he’s hit 126 aces, won 68% of first-serve points, and posted a solid 43% break point conversion on 208 chances.
