Caitlin Clark Injury Update: Indiana Fever Star to Miss Entire Season

Indiana Fever will be in deep trouble after missing Clark for the remaining matches.

Indiana Fever’s injury blows continues and they get a major setback ahead of the WNBA playoffs as their star player, Caitlin Clark will miss the rest of the season due to a groin injury. The 2024 rookie of the year last played on July 15 and featured in only 13 games this season. She worked tirelessly to make a comeback on the court but her recovery process wants more time.

The Indiana Fever guard Clark made an announcement in a social media post Thursday that she will not be returning this season. She feels that her injury situation has been “incredibly frustrating” and also expressed gratitude for the support throughout the season.

Indiana Fever Face a Huge Setback as Caitlin Clark to Miss Reminder of the Season

“I had hoped to share a better update, but I will not be returning to play this season,” Clark said in a statement. “I spent hours in the gym every day with the singular goal of getting back out there, disappointed isn’t a big enough word to describe how I am feeling. I want to thank everyone who had my back through all the uncertainty.

“This has been incredibly frustrating, but even in the bad, there is good. The way the fans continued to show up for me, and for the Fever, brought me so much joy and important perspective. I am so proud of how this team has only gotten stronger through adversity this year. Now it’s time to close out the season and claim our spot in the playoffs.”

Clark sustained the injury against the Connecticut Sun on July 15, and later, sustained a bone bruise. The reigning rookie of the year averaged 16.5 points, 8.8 assists and 5.0 rebounds in 13 games in her second season in the WNBA. Despite an injury, she travelled with the team and supported them during the matches.

“Caitlin has worked so hard throughout this time, doing everything possible to recover and return to the court but, ultimately, time is not on our side,” Fever COO and GM Amber Cox said in a statement. ”While we will continue working with Caitlin and provide her with every resource we have available, there is not enough time left in our season for her to safely return, and her long-term health and well-being remains our top priority. We are looking forward to having her back at full strength to start the 2026 season.”

Fever’s Injury Concerns Rising before the Playoffs!

Caitlin Clark was pushing hard for the recovery but was getting regular opinions from the former players to avoid playing for the season. The former Iowa star participated in full-court drills without defense during a shootaround on Tuesday night. Coach Stephanie White was also giving regular update on her injury.

Indiana Fever will be in deep trouble after missing Clark for the remaining matches. They are currently in eighth place in the standings, one and half games in front of the Sparks with three games to play. It was the first time when Clark faced injury issues. The 2024 rookie of the year never missed a game in her collegiate career at Iowa or her debut season in the WNBA.

Including Clark, five players will miss the entire season due to injuries and this is the big reason behind Indiana Fever’s winning rate in pursuit of the WNBA playoffs. Fellow guards Sydney Colson (knee), Aari McDonald (foot) Sophie Cunningham (knee) and forward Chloe Bibby (knee) are also out. Chloe Bibby’s update came just before Caitlin Clark.
