Bucs QB Baker Mayfield has a heart touching response to Chris Godwin and Mike Evans’ injuries

The Ravens vs. Buccaneers game started with Mike Evans’ 100th career receiving touchdown. This made him the 11th player in NFL history to achieve this feat. The Bucs were having a great day till the time it turned into a nightmare. While attempting to catch a pass for his second touchdown of the night, Evans got injured and was ruled out for the remainder of the game.

The Ravens, who started off with no score in the first quarter, rained havoc on the Bucs in the remainder of the game. Lamar Jackson, Justice Hill, Mark Andrews and Derrick Henry ran through the Bucs defense like a hot knife through butter, scoring 5 touchdowns and 2 field goals.

The second injury setback of the night for the Bucs came when Chris Godwin got injured after a tackle by Roquan Smith with 43 seconds left in the game. Bucs QB Baker Mayfield had a heartwarming response filled with compassion for his injured teammates’ injuries after Monday Night Football.

Two of the guys that are (the) huge heartbeat of this team. But like I said, we’re gonna have to find a way. We are going to be playing for first place in the division next week, a home game against Atlanta. We’re going to be thinking about Chris and Mike for a while here.

Mike Evans Injury Update

It was speculated that the hamstring injury aggravated in the 8th minute of the second quarter is the one that had Evans troubled in the weeks prior. He fell to the ground and immediately grabbed his hamstring. The Bucs wideout had one reception for 25 yards and a touchdown he scored in the first quarter.

NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero revealed that Mike Evans was indeed dealing with a hamstring injury going into the game vs. the Ravens. Pelissero stated- (Evans) barely practiced last week, had limited participation on Saturday, was off the injury report but you could completely tell that Mike Evans was not quite himself.

Pelissero further added, “Mike Evans will undergo an MRI for his hamstring this morning. That will give them (Bucs) the idea how much time (Mike) Evans potentially could miss.”

Chris Godwin Injury Update

Chris Godwin also has an MRI scheduled for the injury he suffered in the last minute of the Bucs vs. Ravens game. In his case, surgery would be needed for the dislocated ankle injury. It would be safe to assume that Godwin will not be able to play for the Bucs for the remainder of the 2024 NFL season. This was supposed to be Godwin’s last season with Tampa Bay, following which he will enter free agency. Hence, this game was his last game for the Buccaneers.

The Buccaneers (4-3) find themselves going through a rough patch right now. They play their next game at home against their NFC South rivals, the Atlanta Hawks (4-3), on Sunday.
