Browns Bolster Their O-Line Via a Trade for Veteran Tackle Cam Robinson

In a desperate bid to strengthen their offensive line, the Cleveland Browns pulled off a key trade, acquiring a seasoned left tackle, Cam Robinson, to inject stability into a unit that’s been battered by injuries and inconsistency through the first four weeks of the 2025 season.

The move comes at a critical time for a 1-3 team that’s struggled to protect their quarterback Joe Flacco, who’s faced relentless pressure and sacks in their recent matchups. Stefanski and the Browns have been desperate for reinforcements, after failing to draft offensive lineman this year. Cam Robinson Trade Details

The Browns finalized the deal with the Houston Texans, sending a 2027 sixth-round pick in exchange for a 2027 seventh-rounder and veteran left tackle Cam Robinson, according to Adam Schefter. The low-cost swap shows Cleveland’s urgency without giving away their future assets, as the team will absorb the remaining of Robinson’s $2 million base salary from his one-year $12 million contract signed with Houston on March.

Robinson is a 2017 second-round pick out of Alabama, who brings a wealth of starting experience, including seven full seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars, followed by a mid-2024 trade to the Minnesota Vikings where he started 11 games. In Houston, he appeared in first three games with one start but was quickly overtaken by rookie Aireontae Ersery, which made Robinson expendable as the Texans commit to their youth.

Cleveland’s Struggles Early On

The Browns have heavily struggled this season winning games, as offensive inconsistencies have been the biggest issue. Their QB under a lot of pressure due to a horrible O-Line, has thrown for 6 interceptions so far, giving away free possession of the football and ultimately putting it on their defense to step up.

Cam Robinson’s arrival directly targets the Browns’ nightmare at offensive tackle, where injuries have been the focal point of this team. Second-year pro Dawand Jones, a promising starter, suffered a season-ending knee injury. Veteran Jack Conklin, meanwhile, has missed the last three games with elbow issue. All these injuries have now led to four different starting O-line combos in four games, which has led to their QB’s struggles, even though not all part of the blame is on them.

While this trade might not be a game changer for the Browns, we do expect to see them do better in the next upcoming weeks.
