Brittney Griner Tossed From Game For Aggressive Outburst As Dream Battle Dallas Wings Late

Brittney Griner was ejected against the Wings after clashing with officials in a tense WNBA showdown. The Center had a fine game going on for the Atlanta Dream contributing on both defense and offense.

During the early minutes of the third quarter, Griner missed a shot and went for a rebound. However, Wings’ Haley Jones beat her for the ball coming at the board. The 6-foot-9 center tried to forcefully grab the ball, committing a personal foul.

She reacted visibly to the foul call and voiced her frustration to the official on the floor. In the moment of heat, she was given a technical. That is when Brittney Griner lost it further and became more aggressive.

A Dream assistant coach rushed in to calm Griner before her ejection was finalized by the officials. However, it was late till then as the official made up her mind and called an ejection.

Brittney Griner had to walk away from the court but she kept talking to herself in frustration. The ejection left the Dream in a difficult spot with two full quarters still left to play. The Dallas Wings sensed an opportunity and upped their game.

Dream Regroup After Brittney Griner’s Ejection

The Dallas Wings took a lead in the game after Griner’s ejection. They outscored the Dream with 24-18 at the end of the third quarter. The Atlanta Dream were facing heat for the first time in the game.

However, they held their nerves till the end and took back their lead. Though they entered the final quarter ahead, the Wings couldn’t stop the Dream from stealing the game. The Atlanta Dream registered a 88-85 win against the Wings.

Naz Hillmon stepped up and delivered 21 points while Allisha Gray scored 15 points and Brionna Jones scored 14. For the Wings, Paige Bueckers hit 21 points and 7 assists. Arike Ogunbowale and Haley Jones each scored 12.
