Brentford vs Manchester United Preview

While Brentford is still competing for a spot in the top half of the 2024-25 Premier League table, Manchester United are staring at an inevitable bottom-half of the table finish, their first in the Premier League, as Ruben Amorim’s men are fully focused on their European ambitions.

Brentford

Brentford is currently 11th in the Premier League standings with 49 points to their name after the Bees shocked Nottingham Forest 2-0 at the City Ground on Thursday evening, with Kevin Schade and Yoane Wissa finding the back of the net. After consecutive draws against Chelsea and Arsenal, the Bees have picked up the momentum at the perfect juncture by defeating Brighton & Hove Albion 4-2, followed by the recent 2-0 win against Forest.

Yunus Konak was a late substitute in the 2-0 win against Forest, and the Batman-born defensive midfielder should continue his recovery with another substitute appearance against United. Aaron Hickey and Igor Thiago would be hoping to be named on the bench after missing a substantial period due to injuries, while Fabio Carvalho is ruled out of the remainder of the season.

Predicted Starting XI (4-2-3-1): Flekken; Ajer, Collins, van den Berg, Hnery; Norgaard, Jensen; Mbuemo, Damsgaard, Schade; Wissa

Manchester United

The visitors for Sunday’s match are currently in the 14th position in the league standings with 39 points to their name and have failed to win any of their last five league matches since the 3-0 drubbing of Leicester City back in mid-March. The Red Devils are in top form in Europe though, as Amorim placed all his eggs in one basket, and it seems to be paying off with United favorites to win the Europa League after Thursday’s 3-0 win in Bilbao against Athletic Club.

Luke Shaw’s minutes were further managed in Thursday’s match against the club from the Basque region, while Diogo Dalot completely missed the trip, and it seems unlikely that the duo will be risked against Brentford. Joshua Zirkzee and Lisandro Martinez are definitely ruled out for the rest of the season, while Amad Diallo might make his first league appearance in three months if he gets off the bench on Sunday evening in West London like he did against Athletic Bilbao.

Predicted Starting XI (3-4-2-1): Onana; Yoro, de Ligt, Lindelof; Mazraoui, Ugarte, Eriksen, Amass; Mount, Garnacho; Hojlund

Brentford vs Manchester United Under/Over Predictions

The Playoffs aim to facilitate the safest bets for the game. Have a look at the predictions for the game below.

Total goals Over 2.5 @ -160 (MGM Bet): The duo of Bryan Mbuemo and Yoane Wissa have netted 35 Premier League goals between them this season and while the two forwards compete to be crowned Brentford’s top scorer in the ongoing season, Manchester United could field a makeshift defense to keep the likes of Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, and Matthijs de Ligt fit for the second leg of the Europa League semi-final.

Brentford vs Manchester United Player Picks

Bryan Mbuemo (To Score a Goal @ +155 as per Fan Duel): Mbuemo currently leads the Brentford forwards in terms of goals scored and total contributions as well. The 25-year old versatile forward has netted 18 goals and assisted a further 6 goals as well, recording the highest number of goal contributions in a single season for the Bees.

Brentford vs Manchester United Prediction

While Manchester United have won only three of their last 21 away Premier League games in London, with all of those three wins coming against Fulham, the Red Devils have a good record against Brentford, as the Bees have only won one of their last 12 meetings against Manchester United in all competitions.

Our Final Prediction: A 3-3 draw could be the most likely outcome from the battle of the two teams fighting for mid-table spots in the Premier League.
